Automatic chronograph watches use an automatic movement mechanism which means their mechanical time regulating system does not require manual winding of the spring. Automatic chronographs are auto charged based on the movements on the arms and theoretically can keep going on their own power forever. Of course, even automatic watches require a regular winding and tune up.
